To play air hockey, you need a table, two paddles, a puck, and of course somebody to play the game with. Once you have everything you need, you can start the game. An air hockey table is a table that has a large, smooth playing surface. The reason the surface has to be smooth is that pucks need to be able to slide on it. The main objective of the game is to score as many goals as possible. In order to increase play speed, most tables have some tiny holes in them with the purpose of reducing friction. Also, a table needs to meet special requirements to be considered acceptable for tournaments.

Not every type of a table is good enough for a tournament. As a matter of fact, the only type of table that are approved for tournaments are 8-foot tables manufactured by Dynamo. The organization that approves or disapproves hockey tables is the United States Air-Table-Hockey Association. If you play air hockey on a HotFlash 2 table or any other full-size commercial tables, don't worry. While you might not be able to play on such tables during tournaments, you can still learn the game while playing on any table you have at your disposal.

Looking at the history of the game, you will discover that it dates back to around 1972. It is one of those sports that was an immediate financial success. Since the mid-1970s, more and more people have started to become interested in participating in air hockey tournaments. Since that time, a set of rules describing air hockey has been created. The United States Air-Table-Hockey Association is the organization that sets the rules and ensures that all tournaments are organized according to the standards set by it.

If you are interested in the sport, nothing should stop you from attempting to try it. Who knows, maybe you will even have a chance to become a top air hockey player in the world. United States Air-Table-Hockey Association, which is an official sanctioning body, can help you become a player and participate in various tournaments. They are the only recognized worldwide player organization for this game. They even have a close relationship with the manufacturers. If participating in these tournaments is something you would like to do, then you should try to contact them. This game is also played by many close knit communities in various parts of the world including countries such as the United States, Spain, Russia, as well as the Czech Republic.

Once I got this thing put together, I realized what a bad mamma jamma air hockey table this is. I love the cool crowd noise sound effects and the variable bumper sounds. The 200 watt speakers do quite a good job. The table is even more bad ass in the dark - - it's got some kind of UV coated playing surface which looks awesome under the dual black light lamps. I've had a couple of initial problems (scoring units and 2 bad black lights) but I think the table will be awesome once Dynamo-Valley takes care of those issues. If you want something impressive, fuck the pool table. Both the guys and girls love this awesome display. Just a note - the overhead assembly instructions kind of suck, so good luck. At least two people are needed for installation.
